Beverley ‘Bev’ Steven Hamel, of Walkerton, passed away at SBGHC-Walkerton, on Wednesday, April 23, 2025. He was 60.
Bev was born in Hanover on June 15, 1964, to Orville and Kathaleen (nee Schuknecht) Hamel. While able-bodied, he enjoyed living life the fullest, and loved all things fast during his childhood and teenage years - fast cars, and snowmobiles were his favourite. Bev attended school in Chesley, and enjoyed participating in various sports and cheering on various sports teams throughout his life. Bev had an unfortunate accident in his late teenage years, which left him confined in a wheelchair the remainder of his life. Even still, he enjoyed life the best he could, time with family, and his fast cars. He will be missed.
Loved son of Kathaleen Hamel of Walkerton, formerly Elmwood. Fondly remembered by brother David (Brenda) Hamel of Chesley, and sisters Patricia Thompson of Clifford and Katharine Hamel (Dave Fallis) of Williamsford, as well as many nieces and nephews and their families. Predeceased by his father Orville (2002), sister Heather, and a brother in infancy.
Visitation will be held at Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover, on Monday, April 28, 2025, from 11-11:45 am, where a Funeral Service and Celebration of Life will follow at 12 noon. Pastor Jenn Brown officiating. Interment in Hanover Cemetery.
Memorial donations to the Brucelea Haven Residents’ Recreation & Leisure Fund would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
My deepest sympathy to the entire family at the loss of Bev. I had him as a patient in the past and he was a happy man who had stories to tell. He was my inspiration for caring for my husband when he became quadriplegic from a farm accident. Bev was the reason for a large part of my advocacy for my own spouse. He will be missed but will remain in my heart . May he enjoy his walking in heaven with the angels...
