Matthew Douglas David, of Neustadt, passed away suddenly at Victoria Hospital in London on Saturday, April 12, 2025. He was 40.
Born in London, Ontario on March 28, 1985 to Douglas and Linda (nee Becker) David. Matthew, better known to friends and family as "Matty" or "Matty with glasses" was a magnetic soul that was a great friend to everyone. He enjoyed spending time with his dog, a Shih Tzu, Chester as well as going in his Kayak at the cottage in Williams Lake. He had a love for all cars and accrued quite the collection of model-die cast cars. Hockey was the next best thing to cars, and he was an avid Toronto Maple Leafs fan, having Austin Matthews, being his absolute favorite player. Matthew could be found listening to his Gospel Music and he had a love for Elvis. He will be remembered by his second family at HARC Inc. as well as the Trinity Lutheran Church congregation where he was baptized alongside his God parents Glenn & Tracy David.
Dearly loved son of Douglas (Linda) David of Neustadt. Devoted brother of Angela (Matthew) Polfuss of London and Andrew David of Neustadt. Matthew was such a fun-loving uncle to his only nephews Hudson and Will. Remembered by his grandmother Reita Tanner. Loved by his aunts and uncles; Bonnie (Brian) Becker, Diane Pfeffer, Karen (Gary) Whitehead, Art Hetsler, Randy Yager, Joan Weiss (Steve Smith), Ken David, Rosemary Upshall, Glenn (Tracy) David, Deb David, Bill Weiss (Deb Ferguson) and their families. He had a special bond with his cousin Denise and Scott Bender and their children Zachary and Brook that will never be forgotten. He was loved by all his cousins and will be missed deeply. Predeceased by his grandparents Ed David, Earl (Mildred) Becker, Gord Tanner, uncles Glen Pfeffer, Michael David and aunts Joanne Hetsler, Debbie Yager and his cousin Brock Weiss.
A Memorial Service celebrating Matthew’s Life will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church – Ayton on Thursday, April 24, 2025 at 11am. Pastor Kevin McLeod officiating. A time of gathering and visitation with the family will commence following the service until 2pm in the church basement.
Memorial donations to the HARC Inc (https://www.clhanover.com) would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.mightonfuneralhome.ca
