David Laird Joonase, of Hanover, passed away peacefully at home with family by his side, on Sunday, February 2nd, 2025. He was 66.
Born in Toronto, Ontario on January 10th, 1959, to the late Taavi and Dorreen (nee Dash) Joonase. Dave was a simple man who enjoyed keeping life fun and light-hearted, and he loved spending quality time with family and friends. He had a soft spot for dogs, and he operated his own pet food business for many years. Dave loved music, and he would often be the life of the party and make people laugh with his 'one-liners', often while enjoying his favourite beer or spirit. He will be missed.
Survived by his loving wife Joan Parks, and children Andrew (April) Bowler of Eugenia, Brandice (Terry) Parks of Chatsworth, and Gabriel Parks of Guelph. Proud ‘Papa’ of Samantha, Jaxson, Mekenzie, Jaycob, Madison, Skyler, Oneika and Gabreena. Fondly remembered by his brother Paul (Cristine) Joonase of Barrie, and nephews Adam and Russell. Predeceased by his parents.
A Memorial Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 8th, 2025 at 1:30 pm, at Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover. Pastor Jenn Brown officiating. A reception will follow at the Hanover Legion (Branch #130) – all are welcome to attend.
Memorial donations to the Grey-Bruce Animal Shelter (www.grey-bruceanimalshelter.com/donate) would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
May it comfort you to know that others are thinking of you in this difficult time. My thoughts and prayers are with you Joan, and the rest of Dave's family. Sincerely,
Gaby
