George Joseph Nichol, my wonderful soul mate left this earthly kingdom for the concourse on High, Saturday, December 21, 2024 in his 86th year. He carried on to meet his maker.
Born on January 5, 1939 in Winnipeg. George will be remembered by many in Hanover as the Manager for Becker Shoes for 28 years. He enjoyed the simpler things in life and taught dance for years. He always took time from his busy schedule to volunteer for the Arthritis Society and served as a Kiwanian of Owen Sound on many committees. He was a strong member of the Baha’i faith.
Survived by beloved and devoted wife Linda (nee Sersen) of Hanover. Loved father of Kimberley (Robert) Johnston of Keswick. Special poppa George of Samantha (Marcel) Christopher, Adam Johnston and Brooklyn Johnston and great grandpa of Amelia and Addison. Remembered by his all his good friends that stood by and has been supportive during his illness; especially Henry (Denise) Medeiros and Judy Gallacher. Predeceased by his daughter Tiffany Walker.
The Baha’i laws have been met and a Graveside Service will be held at the Hanover Cemetery on Monday, December 30, 2024 at 1pm.
Memorial donations to the Chapman House or to the Arthritis Society would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover.
I was saddened to hear the news of George's passing.
I was a footwear and hockey skate sales rep who enjoyed calling on Becker Shoes for many years. George always greeted me with warmth and kindness.
He will be sadly missed.
All the best
