George Randolph "Randy" Bester, of Marl Lake, passed away suddenly at Hanover and District Hospital on Sunday, May 26, 2024. He was 67.
Randy was born in Walkerton on October 27, 1956, to the late Gordon and Molly (nee Brown) Bester. He worked for many years in the propane industry, and his final years before retiring were spent at Exceldor as a Lead Hand. Known to family and friends simply as Randy, he had a heart of gold. He enjoyed playing pool with the league, gardening (taking over the gardens at the lake for Lisa), and fishing from the dock. Randy had a special place in his heart for animals and would often stop to pet any dog that crossed his path. He will be dearly missed by his Biewer Terrier, Madison, and Biro Terrier, Bentley. Awaiting him in heaven is his Shih Tzu Maltese furbaby, Martini.
Randy is survived by his devoted wife, Lisa Doersam, of Marl Lake. He was a beloved stepdad to Ashley (Justin) and a special grandpa Randy to Cappella, whom he loved to spoil dearly. He is fondly remembered by his brothers Don (Judy) Bester, Jim (Donna) Bester, Ian (Janet) Bester, and his sister Joyce (Matt). He will also be remembered by his nieces and nephews. Randy was accepted and adored by Lisa's family and cherished the good times he had with them. He is remembered by brothers-in-law Peter (Tammy) Doersam and Dan (Maggie) Doersam, as well as many nieces, nephews, and their families. Randy was predeceased by his parents, parents-in-law Pat and Tom Doersam, and his brother Bob Bester.
To honor his wishes, a private family Celebration of Life will be held at the lake at a later date.
Memorial donations to the Owen Sound Animal Shelter or the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover.
