Jan Uffels, of Hanover, passed away suddenly at Hanover and District Hospital on Monday, May 20, 2024. He was 84.

Fondly remembered by his siblings Gonnie, Willem (Riet), Rika (Herman), Eefje (Martien), Gre (Arie), Joop (Marry), Janny (Bert) and Tina. Jan will be missed dearly by his special nieces that were always by his side; Janet (Ben) and their family Kirsten (Jeroen), Carola (Vincent), Yanina (Ruben) as well as Brigitte (Richard) and their daughter Demi. Treasured by many friends and extended family in Holland. Predeceased by his beloved wife and soulmate Maria.

I am writing on behalf of Erika Mueller. Jan and Erika were great friends. She missed him dearly when he went travelling. Jan made living at McVeen a wonderful and less lonely place for Erika.
After I had met Jan a couple of times I could clearly see why both Jan and Erika had such a positive relationship. He was quick witted and kind. He was also a wealth of knowledge , experience and wisdom. Erika is deeply grieving for her best friend, who always showed his love and kindness.
Erika and I wish you peace and comfort as you come to terms with this great loss. He will not be forgotten.

On behalf of the Saugeen Stamp Club, we will miss Jan at our monthly meetings. It was always a pleasure to talk to him there.
- Bill FindlayI am so sorry to hear of Jan's passing. He shared a dining table with my mother and 2 other ladies. I enjoyed many chats with him and he told me how thankful he was to be able to travel to the Netherlands last year. I once asked if I could sit on the bench next him and he replied, yes I could as long as I didn't make a pass at him. We discussed many topics, the most recent being about how to properly cook liver. I will think of him each time I cook it now and will surely try his method. Please accept my heartfelt condolences.
- Brenda CampbellI use to care for Jan at a retirement home in Walkerton.
He was always in good spirits with a sharp whit.
His presence was a joy to be near
