Alan Yardley, of Hanover, passed away at the Hanover Care Centre in Hanover on Sunday, February 25, 2024 at the age of 87 after a lengthy battle with Parkinsons Disease.
Survived by his loving wife Joyce, sons Simon (Jamie), Tim (Bambi) and Richard (Darlene) and by his step daughter Deana (Dave). Loved grandfather of Trent (Cassidy), Aidan (Alex), Tessa (Kent), Hartley (Rob) and Campbell.
Alan was born in England and immigrated to Canada in 1968. For many years he was a farm manager and then moved on to Stelco Steel. He was a member of the British Army in earlier years and became a member of the Royal Canadian Legion in Hanover, enjoying stories of years before and friendships made. In his retirement, Alan enjoyed fishing, camping, Lawn Bowling and his church family. He was as comfortable in a saddle as he was on a tractor, always adventurous, resilient and strong.
Cremation has taken place and a private Memorial Service to honour his life will be held at Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover.
Special thanks to the compassionate staff at the Hanover Care Centre for all you did for us.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Parkinson Society Southwestern Chapter or to the Hanover Day Away Program would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to the Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover.
