Madlen O'Brien, of Hanover, passed away suddenly at her residence on Friday, December 29, 2023. She was 67.
Born on December 20, 1956 in Yugoslavia, to the late Josef & Theresa (nee Kellner) Hartmann. Madlen married the love of her life, Thomas, in 1988, and together they raised their 3 children. ‘Maddy’ always loved to feed her family and their friends with a feast at all family gatherings, and everyone affectionately called her ‘mom’. Many will remember Madlen from her many years working in the kitchen at the Redwood Restaurant in Clifford, and Kettles Back Home Cookin' in Owen Sound. Madlen always had a love for her pets, and will be missed by her dog ‘Jesse’ – Madlen loved her dog Jesse who was always there for her during the ‘ruff’ times, and always there to brighten her day with her singing.
Survived by loving husband Thomas O'Brien of Hanover. Loved mother of Christopher Chard (Heather) of Niagara Falls, Joey (Katelyn) O'Brien of Chesley, Crystal O'Brien (Harold) of Hanover. Proud grandmother of Amelia – Amelia will always treasure the good times with Grandma ‘Maddy’. Fondly remembered sister Elisabeth (Giuseppe) Hartmann-Lombardo of Connecticut.
Cremation has taken place, and a private graveside memorial and inurnment will be held in the spring, at Chesley Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover.
Memorial donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
