David Lloyd Chittick, of Hanover, passed away suddenly on Sunday, November 05, 2023. He was 81.
Born in Hanover on March 4,1942 to the late Lloyd and Evelyn (nee Witte) Chittick. At a young age, Dave created his own band called “Dave Chittick and the Country Pals”. Over the years he played at many public, private and charity venues and had a huge country music following. His music was played as local talent on CKNX radio.
He was the MC for many years for the Bruce Grey Country Music Jamborees and recognized for his dedication and musical contributions for which he was inducted into the Bruce Grey Country Music Hall of Fame in 2018. Dad could never pass by a musical instrument, especially a piano, without playing a tune. Dad truly cherished his grandchildren and would often share his knowledge and “treasures” at the farm. He was extremely proud of his family and heritage. Dad’s expression of the word “BOY!!!” would often mean he was teasing his grandchildren.
His passion was farming, tractors, music and driving trucks. After retirement he continued his driving with transporting members of the Mennonite and Amish communities to various locations.
Survived by his wife Gloria (nee Barrett) Chittick of Hanover. Loved father of Kevin Chittick of Point Clark (Sara Mallory), Heather Chittick (Brett Anderson) of Barrie and Brian (Tanya) Chittick of Drayton. Special grandpa of Shay, Kieran (Jen), Chase, Adam, Megan and great grandpa of Amelia. Remembered by siblings Delores Gateman (Bob Boddy) of Chesley, Cleta Ernest of R#1 Hanover and Keith Chittick of Alliston as well as his nieces, nephews and their families. Predeceased by his parents, grandson Braeden, brothers Wayne and Harold, sister-in-law Velma Chittick and brothers-in-law Alan Gateman and Gordon Ernest.
Visitation will be held at Mighton Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 pm. A Private Funeral Service will be held with interment in Hanover Cemetery.
Memorial donations to the Grey Bruce Music Country Hall of Fame or the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
Sincere condolences on the passing of Dave. Mum and dad (Lorna and Adolph) passed along your sad news to me. Nāku noa, nā. Duane
I was so shocked of Dave's passing. He had invited me for a walk around the farm, which I hadn't taken him up on. Our family visited the farm as children and I visited Dolly (Evelyn) often when I moved up here. When my partner passed away, I gave Dave a couple of his suits because he was another 'big' guy.
My heartfelt condolences to the Chittick family. Dave leaves a big hole in the community.

We are so sorry to hear of Dave's passing. We used to dance to his music with his band at Keady every Saturday night. We just loved it, and him. I (Marg) along with a girlfriend were dared to get up on stage with the band and sing. I had a word with

May the memories comfort you in the days ahead.

Very saddened to see the passing of Dave. We have now lost the last of our country music pioneers. So glad that he could join the the Ridge River Ramblers this past spring, on-stage at the Propeller Club, and then in June at the annual Bruce Grey Music Hall of Fame induction celebration. We proudly inducted Dave
into the Music HOF in 2018.... such a worthy HOF candidate. We will miss his presence, the stories, the humour, all the history, the jams, his music and unique personality. May Dave's journey now be one of peace.
So sorry to hear of Dave's passing. I have known him for quite some time and always enjoyed his music. He will be missed. Diane
