Hinke "Helen" Klaver, of Hanover, passed away peacefully after singing her favourite hymns with family by her side, at Hanover and District Hospital, on Tuesday, October 31, 2023. She was 91.
Born in Workum, Holland, on August 6, 1932, to the late Tjipke and Baukie (nee Visser) Bouwman. Helen worked for many years at the Hanover & District Hospital in the housekeeping department. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, and will be dearly missed by many.
Loved mother of Ted (Marni) Klaver of Red Deer, Alberta, Ali Klaver (Ed Alfonsi) of Guelph, Kelly (Steve) Wright of Owen Sound, Tom Law (Cheryl Ann) of Wasaga Beach, and Rob MacInnis of Niagara on the Lake. Cherished 'Oma' of Kate(Will), Leah (Jared), David, Willie (Jess), Rachel (Bill), Matthew, Caitlin (Jeff), Michael (Sherry), Michelle (Jason), Melissa (John), Alana, Kayla (Mitch), and Nicole (Ron), and great grandchildren Mataya, Emery, Rylan, Rowan, Mattheus, Oliver, Olivia, Gavin, Cameron, Adilyn, Brenden, Tyson, Carter, Landen, and Myla. Fondly remembered by brother Anne (Ukie) Bouwman of Holland. Predeceased by her parents, husband Tys Klaver, daughters Baukje MacInnis and Ida Law, brothers Sjirk, Gerke, and Klaas, and sisters Alie Mink and Foekje "Faye" van der Berg.
Visitation will be held at Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover, on Thursday, November 2, 2023, from 5-8 pm, where a Funeral Service will follow on Friday, November 3, 2023 at 11am. Interment in Memory Gardens, Breslau.
Helen’s family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at The Village Retirement Residence (Revera) for all their wonderful care over the last many years, as well as Dr. Heerema and the amazing team at Hanover & District Hospital for their care, support, and kindness – we are forever grateful.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Hanover and District Hospital Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.

We have fond memories of Helen and Thys. Helen was always interested in people. She was caring and compassionate. Our parents enjoyed many years of friendship with Helen and Thys as well. Our thoughts are with all of you, her family, as you share memories as celebrate her life.

Our sincerest condolences to those who loved her. She lived a full and loving life and will be welcomed in heaven by all those who loved her. What I remember most about her was when we went to visit her family on the farm in Guelph she always welcomed us with tea and cake/cookies. Love those memories. Bye for now Henny.
