Mary Josephine "Jo" McQueen, of Hanover, passed away suddenly at Hanover and District Hospital on Monday, October 2, 2023. She was 77.
Born in Arthur on May 21, 1946 to the late Alfred and Eileen Green. Mary thrived in taking care of people and so it was a no brainer for her to become a Nurse. She was employed with the Hanover & District Hospital for over 30 years until her retirement. Better known as "Jo", she was always very devoted in anything she took on, selfless and putting others needs always above her own and very protective of the ones she loved and cared for. Whether she was at work or not, she treated patients and doctors with the utmost respect.
Loving and supportive mother of Darren (Christie) McQueen of Hanover and Mark (Amanda) McQueen of Durham. Doting grandmother to Brittney, Brayden, Lauren, Alex and great granddaughter Leah. Fondly remembered by her siblings Diane McPherson and her children Jody (Paul), Kurt (Misty) and Rob (Ci Ci) and their families; Ollie Graham and her children Julie (Howard) and David and their families as well as her brother Frank "Butch" (Agnes) Green and their children Darlene (Mike), Shelley and Stacey (Bill) and their families. Predeceased by her beloved husband Duncan "Ed" McQueen and her brothers in law Robert "Bob" McPherson, Ralph Graham, John McQueen and sister in law Wilma (James) Brooklyn.
To honour her request, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of her life will be held at a later date and will up dated as soon as possible.
Memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.

- Dennis & Darlene NeillyI am extremely saddened to hear of "Jo" passing. I worked with her for over thirty years at HDH and at lot of those shifts she was my supervisor. She loved to have her smoke break in the smoke shelter but her patients were foremost in her mind. I ask Almighty God to grant her the rewards that she earned and grant her eternal life as promised by Jesus..
Co-worker, Don Spielmacher.
