With her family at her side, Donna Marie Dentinger of Hanover passed away peacefully in her 80th year, after an absolutely courageous battle with a respiratory illness on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at the Hanover and District Hospital.
Donna was born and raised in Owen Sound on March 27, 1944. After graduation she was employed for many years as a teller and secretary at a bank in Owen Sound and later in Kitchener. Marriage followed and then a move to Hanover, where she became a stay at home mother for her children, a calling she enjoyed immensely. In later life, she enjoyed wintering in Florida with snowbird friends, at home playing cards and socializing with friends and in her quiet time, reading. She had a unique love for her family, a kind smile for everyone, and was a true friend to many.
Survived by her devoted and loving husband of 55 years, Frank Dentinger. Loving mother of Jeff (Lisa) Dentinger of Hanover, Lori Lamont (Jason) and Becky (Adyn) Pickett both of Whitby. Special grandmother of Mikayla, Luke, Ben, Hannah, Ethan, Avery, Kaitlyn, Beth and Sawyer and great grandmother of Bella. Fondly remembered by her brother Doug (Wendy) Hill and sister Marian Burnett, as well as their families. Donna will be remembered and treasured by Frank's siblings, Marjorie Davidson, Richard (Mary) and Buck (Linda) and their families. Predeceased by her parents Alan and Mae, sister Irene, brothers Barry and Charlie and brothers-in-law Roy Burnett and Warren Davidson. She had a special relationship with her dear mother-in-law Ivy Dentinger, and always treasured her and missed her dearly after her passing.
Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Donna’s Life at the Hanover Royal Canadian Legion on Saturday, October 7, 2023 from 12 - 3 pm. A light lunch will be served, followed by a service of remembrance at 2:00 pm.
A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Bouillon, Dr. Montag and the nursing staff at Hanover & District Hospital for their care of Donna.
Memorial donations to the Canadian Food Grains or to the Hanover & District Hospital Foundation would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
