With family by her side, Doreen Marion Grein, of Hanover, passed away at Chapman House Hospice, on Monday, June 26, 2023. She was 90.
She will be deeply missed by her children Cindy (Uwe) Wulff of Mannheim, George (Nora) Grein of Walkerton, Sandra (Dan) Wong of Walkerton, and Ann Lupal (Greg McCabe) of Guelph. Cherished grandma of Jessica (Wes) Kropf, Julie (Jamie) Lang, Nikita Wong, Tianna Wong, Brock (Ali) Lupal, Jake Lupal and Hunter Lupal. Great grandma to Nixon and Connor Kropf and Aria and Braeden Lang. Fondly remembered by sister Betty (John) Hunter of Barrie. Predeceased by her husband and best friend Ivan Grein, and brothers Doug (Donna) and Dennis Fenwick.
Doreen was born on March 13, 1933, in Amabel Township, to the late Howard and Olive (nee Brown) Fenwick. She grew up in Walkerton where she met and married the love of her life, Ivan Grein. After a few years running a business in Mount Forest, Doreen and Ivan moved back to Hanover where they would live for the remainder of their lives. During her working years, she was a respected office professional. Doreen worked hard throughout her life to build a warm and loving home for her children. Her family was always her first priority and she created a lifetime of beautiful memories for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Many summer days were spent on Lake Rosalind. Grandma was always the first one in the lake when the grandchildren arrived! Friendships were very important to Doreen as well, whether it be coffee and a chat, dancing, or travels, she cherished the time she spent with good friends. Those who knew Doreen were blessed by her thoughtful, fun- loving, and generous nature.
Visitation will be held at Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover, on Thursday, June 29, 2023, from 6-8 pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, June 30, 2023 at 11 am, at St. Matthew's Ev. Lutheran Church, Hanover. Rev. Catherine House officiating. Inurnment in Hanover Cemetery.

Memorial donations to the Cancer Society, Chapman House Residential Hospice of Grey Bruce, or Saugeen Hospice, would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.

So sorry we were away at the time of your mother's funeral. We were her "backyard" neighbours at Southview Village and had many friendly chats "over the fence".! She was able to attend a neighbourhood Christmas party last year and in spite her illness, seemed to have a wonderful time with all of us. As so many have said, her smile and cheeriness were always there. We have visited with her and prayed with her and know we will see her again in heaven. Our condolences go to each of you during this difficult time.

- Jane coulsonIvan and Doreen were our neighbours when we first moved to Hanover. They made us feel very welcome. We enjoyed having “coffee” with them at McDonalds. After Ivan passed away, we would have coffee with Doreen at her home. After COVID as life returned to normal, we became busy and unfortunately, didn't take the time to visit with Doreen. We have wonderful memories of both Ivan and Doreen. We send our sympathy to all of the family. Doreen had a beautiful smile and will be missed.

Ross and I send our most sincere condolences to all of the Grein families. Doreen and Ivan (Mr. and Mrs. Ivan - to our kids!) were the most wonderful and generous neighbours that we could ever have had and enjoyed so much. We miss them and the lake all the time. By the way Doreen made the very best rhubarb pie and always shared one with us. She was a lovely lady and will be missed by all who knew her.
