William Hudson James Marshall Sr., of Hanover, passed away peacefully at Hanover and District Hospital on Saturday, February 25, 2023. He was 78.
Born in Toronto on January 21, 1945 to the late Stanley and Helen (nee Hart) Marshall. Bill enjoyed farming and raising his children alongside his devoted wife, Merilee. A hard worker, always willing to lend a hand and sit and have a chat, will be missed by many.
Survived by devoted wife Merilee (nee Peter) Marshall of Hanover. Dear father of Tracey (Neil) Turner of Bradford, William Jr. "Bill" (Laurie) Marshall of Peterborough, Trevor (Estelle) Marshall of Vaughan, Matthew "Matt" (Julie) Marshall, Krystle (Brandon) Allen and Kevin (Amy) Marshall all of Hanover. Loved grandpa of Jake (Jess), Kate, Will, Hayden, Lily, Ailee, Rayna, Madelynn, Brynlee, Dexter, Cooper, Avery, Mylo, Emmett and Isla. Remembered fondly by his sister Karen (Buck) McKenzie of Collingwood, sister in law Jan Marshall and brother in law Ron Hiscock both of Mississauga. Predeceased by his parents and siblings Glen Marshall, Kathy Budway and Keri-lyn Hiscock.
From the bowling alley, or trailer park. A tractor or a minivan. Starting as an accountant finishing as a farmer. Bill held many titles and wore many hats throughout his life. But most important was husband, father and grandfather. Master of life lessons (good or bad) and a jack of all trades. Bill had advice and an opinion on all things and he always enjoyed discussing life over cold refreshments. He was always there for us and will be missed in our everyday life.
Our family would like to extend thanks to all the staff that took care of our Dad including the wonderful nurses and doctors at Hanover and District Hospital, Dr. M Labelle and the paramedics.
To honour his wishes, there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or to Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover.
Sending Sincere Sympathy To Merilee & Family

My condolences to the Bill Sr Marshall family. Bill and I had recently reconnected through Facebook…went to Wedgewood PS together and were in several of the same classes. My special memory will be singing a duet with your Dad in 3rd grade at our school Christmas concert. I loved his wit and “Good Morning” messages. Regards, Brian Goudge
