Cecilia Van Manen - Cecilia Juno Marie (née DeMore) Van Manen, of Wiarton, in her 75th year. Cecilia was born April 7, 1948 in Westlock, Alberta. The daughter of the late Jack (Jacques) DeMore and the late Loretta Aspen.
Cherished wife of Kees Van Manen of Owen Sound and loving mother of Brad Van Manen (Jen) of Georgian Bluffs, Michelle Van Manen (Jeff Gerber) of New Hamburg, and Melanie Subject (Anthony) of Elmwood. Adored grandmother of Jordan Huehn (Mikayla), Owen Van Manen (Austina), Riley and Rohan Gerber, and Aidan and Lily Subject. Great-grandmother of Avah Huehn.
Predeceased by her parents, her in-laws Anton and Geesje ”Grace” Van Manen, brother Ken DeMore, grandson Justyn Huehn, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Gerrit Van Manen, Henk and Ike Van Manen, Francine Nyhof, Willie Van Veen, Mary and Chester DeVries, Cobie and Gerry Stomphorst, Jane and John Gaasbeek.
Fondly remembered by her sister Genevieve Broadhead (Ken) of Edmonton; brothers Lavern DeMore (Tina) of Sechelt, BC; and D’Arcy DeMore of Kamloops, BC; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Tony Van Manen (Sharon) of Guelph, Henny Eaton (Doug) of Innerkip, Frank Van Manen (Brenda) of Parksville, Vancouver Island; and John Van Manen (Dianne) of Edmonton, AB. Cecilia was a beloved aunt to more than 30 nieces and nephews, for whom she never missed a birthday, and a Great Aunt to countless more.
Cecilia was a dedicated and loving nurse at St. Mary’s Hospital in Kitchener for many years before transitioning into a gifted Trager and Reiki practitioner. Cec was a friend and angel to all who sought her out for her loyal friendship and generous nature. Many flocked to Cec for advice, healing treatments and to embrace the love, guidance and generosity that defined her. Cecilia had an adventurous spirit and found a friend in anyone she met. She opened her door to countless people who needed a kind hand, a listening ear, and an open heart.
With a vivacious personality that lit up a room, she was an avid reader, a movie buff at heart, a lover of all creatures, a champion for the underdog and defender of rights. Cecilia left her mark wherever she went, inspiring others to live their truth, to live a life of purpose, and she encouraged others to replace judgment with kindness and love. Unconditional love was her trademark. Cecilia was a true gift.
There simply isn’t anyone else like Cec. Although the loss of her is great to those who loved her, her spirit lives on in everyone she touched. She will be greatly missed, but even more lovingly remembered.
Special thanks to Dr. Van Dorp, the nurses, PSWs and the 2nd and 3rd floor staff at Gateway Haven in Wiarton for caring for Cec as if she was family, these past few years.

- Rick and Lisa Zalewski and familyOn behalf of the Benty's, Lynn and I offer our condolences to the entire family. We have known them now for over 45 years and have many fond memories, especially when we lived in Golden, B.C. and they owned the store in Nicholson. Their home was always filled with joy and laughter ... kindness and generosity is but a part of the legacy left behind in that community. The family loved music and we often jammed together in the "shack" ... the music entertaining all who passed by. Please know that we are praying for God's peace and comfort. Cec will be remembered for her great heart for people and the love she shared so freely. Blessings to all ... Lynn and Michael Benty.
