Nancy Lynn Thornton, in her 57th year, of Hanover, Ontario, formerly of Paisley, passed away on December 4, 2022 at St Mary’s Hospital in Kitchener, Ontario.
Nancy was born in Listowel, Ontario, on December 8, 1965, to the late Lloyd Thornton and Donna (nee Chittick) Eaton. Loving partner of Doug Kingston for 21 years, Nancy and Doug previously resided for many years in Paisley, Ontario, and have spent the last few years in Hanover.
Sister to David Thornton (and the late Shelley Hales) of Squamish, BC, Karen James (nee Thornton) of Teeswater (formerly of Sarnia, Ontario), Jacqueline Cassell (Glenn Cassell) of Regina, SK. Niece to Joyce (nee Thornton) and the late Tom Hermeston of Teeswater. Mother of Justin (Kelly) Thornton of London, Jessi Jones of Seaforth, step-mother to Jessie Kingston of Chesley, and grandmother of Grayson, Callum, and Kaydence. Aunt to Courtney Barnes (Andrew Barnes), Andy Jaworski (Melissa), Rachel (Ryan) Galloway, Kevin (Sarah Hales), Christina Clark, Cory Clark (Jill Swartz), and Jimmie Cassell (Ashley Cassell). Cousin to Paul Buckingham (Leighanne), Marion Ross (Jack), Joan Armstrong (Earl), Lynda Gow (Steve), Jan Unger (and her two sisters) and extended cousins.
Pre-deceased by her parents Donna (nee Chittick) Eaton (October 19, 2022) and Lloyd Thornton (Nov 1976), her grandparents Bert and Louise (nee Donaldson) Thornton of Teeswater, and Samuel and Christena (nee Scheerer) Chittick of Wingham, sister-in-law Shelley Hales, cousin Nancy Buckingham, and several brothers and sisters in-law.
Special thanks to the 911 dispatch talking Doug through CPR till the ambulance arrived, and to the medical staff at Hanover & District Hospital and St. Mary's General Hospital in Kitchener.
A casual visitation will be held at Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover, on Thursday, December 8, 2022, from 2-4 pm. The family asks for those attending to please dress casually, as Nancy would not have wanted formal. Cremation will follow, and friends and family will be welcome to attend an informal graveside service and celebration of life at a future date in the spring or summer of 2023 at Teeswater Cemetery.
