Joyce Edith Wiseman (nee Schenk), of Hanover, passed away peacefully after a lengthy hospital stay at Hanover and District Hospital on Wednesday, September 14, 2022. She was 88.
Born in Normanby Township on April 22, 1934 to the late Menno and Laura (nee Weber) Schenk. Joyce worked alongside her husband on their dairy farm in Carrick Township and enjoyed country living and raising their children. After the move to Hanover, Joyce worked for many years at both the Hanover Hospital (housekeeping) and The Village (laundry) where she enjoyed her interactions with patients and co-workers. Faith was important to Joyce and she demonstrated this in her support of the church; quilting for Missions and in her membership to the LCW Ladies at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Normanby Township. Joyce developed a life-long love for arts and crafts and sewing. She was known by many for her true passion of quilting and shared this talent with others through teaching. She was also a member of the local quilters’ guild. Her beautiful quilts will be treasured by family and friends for generations to come. Joyce was married to the love of her life, Edward, for over 70 years, before his passing just a few short months ago in June of 2022.
Loving and devoted mother of Doug (Myra) Wiseman of Owen Sound, Deanna Wiseman of Kitchener, Janice Wiseman (Ray O'Brien) of Hanover, Jeff Wiseman (Kim) of Elmira and Laurie Wiseman (Todd Campbell) of Waterloo. Special Grandma of Bethany (Brendan Derry), Holly (Robin Salter), Jacob, Emma and Zachery, and Great Grandma to Charlie, Miles, Allegra and Finnian. Fondly remembered by her brother Larry (Marg) Schenk of Kitchener, sister Brenda Hay of Cambridge and sister in law Joyce Schenk, as well as many nieces, nephews and their families. Fondly remembered by the Wiseman Family. Predeceased by her parents, beloved husband Edward, brother Laverne Schenk, Lloyd (Shirley) Schenk and sister Gladys (Tom) Buckle.
Our wonderful mother and friend will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts. She has touched the lives of all who knew her.
Public Visitation will be held at Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover, on Monday, September 19, 2022 from 11 until 12 noon. A private family service will be held. Interment in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Normanby Township.
