Nicolas William Burt, of Desboro, passed away suddenly at home, on Friday, August 5, 2022, at the age of 31. He is now joyfully celebrating in the presence of Jesus.
Born 13 weeks early on December 21, 1990, weighing just 1 lbs 11 ounces, Nick was a walking miracle. The determination he had since birth brought him through elementary and high school in Hanover to Fanshawe College, where he earned a diploma in Construction Engineering Technology. Most recently, he worked for the Municipality of Meaford as their Project Manager of Facilities.
Nick may have been short in stature, but he made up for it in many other ways. He had a big heart for people, no matter who they were. A baseball fanatic and rock-climbing enthusiast, Nick was as sportsmanlike as they came. His pitching arm was well used off the diamond throwing balls on repeat for his loyal dog, Hallie.
Nick was a dedicated family man and a true friend. He accomplished a lot in his short life, but he was proudest of being a husband to Steph and Jovie’s Daddy. His faith and trust in his Lord and Saviour, Jesus, drove all that he did and shaped all that he was. He faithfully served God by humbly serving all those around him.
Nick was so loved by so many people. He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife Stephanie and his precious daughter, Jovie. Survived by his parents Paul and Marcia (Brunner) Burt, his brother Graham (Robyn) Burt, his parents-in-law Ron and Janice McGuire, and his brother-in-law Luke (Courtney) McGuire. Fondly remembered by his aunts and uncles, Carol and David Brownell, Sue Burt, Marjorie Francisco, and Terry Burt, his cousins, Lucas Brownell, Rachael (Simon) Swain, Michael Burt, Matt (Jamie) Burt, Chris Francisco, and Trevor Francisco, as well as by the Burt, Brunner, McGuire, and Ferguson extended families. Cherished by so many good friends.
Nick is predeceased by his loving grandparents, Bill and Bernice Burt and Godfrey and Jeanette Brunner, his uncles George Burt and Ray Francisco, his aunt Judy Burt, his stillborn brother Patrick Burt, and his miscarried niece/nephew Reegan McGuire.
A Memorial Visitation will be held at Hanover Missionary Church (HMC: 628 -11th St), Hanover, on Thursday, August 11, 2022, from 2-4 pm and 6:30-8:30 pm, and on Friday, August 12, 2022 from 10:30-11:30 am prior to the Memorial Celebration of Life which will begin at 12 pm. For those unable to attend, the service will be live streamed and can be viewed on the HMC YouTube channel at: https://www.youtube.com/user/hmccommunications
As an expression of sympathy, donations can be made in trust for Jovie’s education (cheques made payable to Stephanie Burt can be forwarded to the funeral home or family), to HMC’s Warming Centre, or to HMC Youth (make cheques payable to HMC in memory of Nick).
For those unable to attend the visitation or celebration of life, there is an opportunity to share a favourite memory of Nick with the family, who will in turn share these memories with little Jovie when she's older and can share these special memories of her daddy. Please feel free to share these memories by emailing them to MemoriesofNicolas@gmail.com - and don't forget to include who you are, and how you knew Nick. Stephanie will share these memories with Jovie in the future. Your time and thoughtfulness in sharing is greatly appreciated by Nick's entire family!
May God the Almighty be with the family for the loss of dear one. May God grant the best of place for his devout servant, may he forgives his shortcomings and may he grant Nicolas eternal life in paradise.

We are very sad to hear of Nic’s passing. We came to know Nic in his role as Meaford’s representative on the recent library project. Nic contributed his intelligence, dedicated work ethic (he and my colleague Daniel spoke almost every day) and cooperative worldview to the project. His mark will be forever felt within this important community institution. We will remember him well. Our deepest condolences go out to his loved ones.

- Rick andSandy ErmelMarcia and your beloved family. My most deepest condolences to you all. I remember back many years ago to Saugeen Valley, and Marcia would sometimes bring along Nick on a class trip. Sunshine happy times raising our children. I myself grew up with Carol and Marcia , my mother ended up retiring in their childhood home. To lose a son, a husband , father, brother so young is heartbreaking. We ask why? We may never come to understand. It’s been said, and I believe it, that everything happens for a reason , but that doesn’t always give us comfort. Our angels are amongst us, they are watching over us as we grieve. Watch and listen to your hearts, and you will feel Nick with you. I am so sorry and sad that you are going through this. You will find the strength needed to live on, and support each other. May God bless you all and be with you.
We grieve and cry with you at the loss of Nic. Even though he passed from natural causes, it was a shock to all. We pray comfort, peace, and love over the entire extended families. Sincerely, Judy & Wayne Pitt.
