Theodorus “Ted” Jacobs, of Hanover, passed away at McVean Lodge, Hanover on Sunday, July 3, 2022. He was 94.
Born in Stramproy, Limburg, The Netherlands, on March 14, 1928, to the late Peter and Johanna (nee Janssen) Jacobs. Ted lived through very interesting times with the Second World War in Europe, and then later serving for the Dutch army in Indonesia. Ted and his first wife Maria then immigrated to Canada in 1954, settling in Ontario to start their family and a life of hard work in farming. They purchased their first farm near Ayton in 1960, and grew their operation over several years thereafter. Those who knew Ted know that he was proud of his heritage and his family, that he loved to share a good joke and a laugh, loved to socialize and tell stories, and loved to dance. His friendly smile and charming ways will be missed by many.
Survived by his children Matt (Donna) Jacobs of RR2 Ayton, Ted (Betty) Jacobs of Roseville, Trudy (Brian) Beckberger of Waterloo, Bill (Laurie) Jacobs of Mount Forest, and Paul (Doreen) Jacobs of Waterloo. Cherished Grandpa of 10, and Great Grandpa of 12. Also lovingly remembered by second wife Donna Gebhardt of Hanover, and her children Linda Klages, Nancy Emke, and Richard Gebhardt, and their families. Predeceased by his first wife Maria (1992), as well as 4 brothers and 2 sisters.
Visitation will be held at Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover, on Thursday, July 7, 2022, from 5-8 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, July 8, 2022 at 11am, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Ayton. Father Michael Anderson officiating. Interment in St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery, Ayton.
Memorial donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or charity of your choice would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
