Armand Fischer of Neustadt passed away peacefully at Hanover Care Centre on Thursday, June 23^rd, 2022 in his 83^rd year.

Survived by his loving wife of 62 years Doris (nee Walter). Father to Daryl (Paula Kay) of Ellettsville, Indiana. Loved dearly by grandson Dalien (Michaela). Survived by brother Larry (Rosemary) of Kemptville, sister Sandra (Cam) Dougall of Lake Couchiching, and brother-in-law Ivan Kreller of Hanover. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews and especially godchildren Kelly Brant, Elisa Kreller and Diane Moore. Predeceased by his parents Eugene and Elida (Gerhardt) Fischer, son Dean (1985), sister Norma Kreller and nephew David Kreller.

Armand was born in Normanby Township on March 14^th, 1940. Armand helped his Dad on the farm and at the age of 16 went to work with his Uncle Telford Gerhardt in the concrete business. He farmed and worked off the farm well over 40 years. Armand was a proud farmer and worked hard on and off the land. He loved restoring old vehicles and was the proud owner of a 1930 Ford blue truck and a Model T car, as well as some antique tractors. Armand was a devoted member of the Neustadt, Normanby, Carrick Agricultural Society for well over 40 years devoting much of his time to helping out with the many activities involved with the fall fair, and having a special passion for the ambassador pageant. He was also a proud member of the Neustadt and District Lions Club and served on many committees at the church over the years. Armand and Doris purchased property on the outskirts of Neustadt where Armand helped to build his dream retirement home while still farming his homestead and living on and farming Doris’s homestead as well. In 2007 they moved off the farm and to their new home, which they enjoyed together until Armand suffered a stroke in 2021 at which time he was hospitalized and later moved to Hanover Care Centre where he has been a resident for the past year.

Visitation will be held at the Mighton Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 from 3-7pm with the Funeral Service at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Neustadt  on  Thursday, June 30, 2022 at 2pm. with Rev. Fred Ludolph presiding, and a gathering to follow at the Neustadt Community Centre for refreshments, food and fellowship. Interment in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Cemetery, Neustadt.

As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations in memory of Armand can be made to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Neustadt or the Neustadt, Normanby Carrick Agricultural Society.
