Terry Allan Poechman, of Chesley, passed away at Chesley Hospital on Friday, May 27, 2022. He was 63.
Terry was born in Hanover, Ontario, on July 13, 1958, to Allan and his late wife Joan Tanner Poechman. Terry learned how to assess and log a woodlot from his Dad and Uncle Willard while in school. He then worked for several sawmills including Findlay’s and Uncle Willard’s P&M Lumber. During the last 30 years, he worked alongside his Mom and Dad in the firewood business retiring a couple of years ago.
He is mourned by his partner Penny Croft of Chesley, son Adam and his wife Jen Farquharson Poechman of Ayton, and daughter Allanna and her husband Kevin Hubley of Wiarton. Terry was a proud Grandpa to Adam's children Jaden, Ella, and Trey, and Allanna's children Olivia and Penelope. Terry is survived by his father Allan, sister Patricia Poechman (Steve Albert), brother Daryl Poechman (Patricia Smith), Aunts Ruth Tanner Engel, Betty Tanner Nelson, and Edith Poechman Austin, and Uncle Shane Tanner, as well as numerous cousins, especially Brian Engel, a treasured lifelong friend and co-worker, and cherished friends Jim & Barb Fitzell. Terry is also survived by his children's mother, Denice Strauss of Wiarton.
Terry was predeceased by his adored mother, Joan (in March 2021), his uncles Harold, Francis, and Willard Poechman and Aunt Lilllian Poechman and his Uncle Beverly Tanner.
Public visitation will be held at Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover, on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, from 1-1:45 pm, followed by a Catholic Prayer Service at 2 pm. Inurnment to follow in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Carlsruhe.
If desired, as an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, a charity supported by his mother.
