Ronald

Ronald "Ron" Herman

Ronald 'Ron' Isaac Herman, formerly of Ayton, passed away peacefully with his siblings by his side at his residence, Stirling Heights of Cambridge in the afternoon of Monday, May 2, 2022.

Born on April 17th, 1957, Ron recently celebrated his 65th birthday.  Survived by his siblings, Wendy Dahl (Rob Delisle) of Kitchener, Dave Herman (Sara) of Ayton, Barb Graham (Bob) of Thornbury, fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews Curtis Dahl (Andrea) of Cambridge, Hannah Neuman (Alex and great nephew Beau) of Durham, Hailey Herman (Brett Monk) of Guelph, Riley Herman of Ayton, Somer Graham of Thornbury and Jack Graham of Thornbury.  Lovingly remembered by his many devoted, lifelong friends of Ayton, caring staff and friends of McVean Lodge of Hanover, and most recently, his incredibly kind, caring and loving staff and friends of Stirling Heights in Cambridge.

Special thanks to Dr. Martha Taylor for her devoted care and compassion.  Predeceased, and reunited with, his adoring and loving parents, Leonard and Shirley (Gerhardt) Herman.  Ron will also be remembered (or welcomed by) by his many loving cousins, aunties, uncles and grandparents.

Although Ron's recent years were riddled with the increasing struggles and hardships of his degenerative disease, Ron spent the first half of his life thoroughly enjoying the pleasures of the outdoors through fishing, hunting and trapping with his Dad and brother Dave.  He took pride in, and enjoyed owning sporty vehicles such as his sparkling gold Pontiac Tans-Am, and he was blessed with the companionship of beautiful friends and family whom he traveled with near and far to places such as Hawaii and camping trips 'up north'.  He enjoyed the pleasures of helping raise his nieces and nephews, especially as a lifelong 'side-kick' to his sister Wendy with Curtis.  The age spread between him and his youngest sibling, Barbie, even had him having to test out 'fathering' skills over the years.  Ron was most adored by his parents, whom loved and cared for him as his disease progressed, right up until their own passing.  Their dying wish and concern was to ensure that Ron was loved and cared for in their absence.  Everyone who loved Ron, friends and family alike, played a role in granting that wish, but it was Wendy who took the lead role.  Ron was grateful for this love, tender compassion, and unrelenting empathy.  Ron made it easy to love him.

The family will receive guests in the form of visitation on Saturday, May 7, 2022 beginning at 10:00 am at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ayton, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am.  Inurnment to follow at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Ayton. Pastor Heather Spencer-Stoltz and Brother Mark McIntosh officiating.  The family politely requests that those attending the visitation and funeral service to please wear a facemask to help ensure everyone's safety. The funeral will be livestreamed through  the Mighton Funeral Home YouTube Channel at:  https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgVh0M6i_KsMshDMLdWRDQw  The live stream will start approximately 5-10 minutes prior to the service - at that time, please look for the live video post on the obituary page on our website or the Funeral Home YouTube Channel to join the service.  For people unable to join at the time of the service, the live stream video will remain posted and available for viewing afterwards.
