Lorraine Yandt, of Hanover, passed away at Hanover and District Hospital on Thursday, April 14, 2022 at the age of 90.
Born in Normanby Township on March 3, 1932, to the late Milton and Beatrice (nee Hafermehl) Fischer. Lorraine enjoyed a very rewarding career working as an RNA with Hanover Hospital. When she wasn't working, she enjoyed almost any type of bowling - swing, carpet, and 10 pin. She also enjoyed many years of playing shuffleboard at the Grace United Church with many close friends. She was always generous with her spare time helping with the Hanover Hospital Auxiliary and knitting items to be sold in the gift shop. As rewarding as her career and hobbies were, family was always the top priority for Lorraine. She enjoyed raising her 3 girls with her husband Stan, and was blessed with many beautiful grandchildren and great grandchildren whom she adored. Her heart was shattered with the recent loss of her grandson Shaun.
Survived by daughters Debbie Al and Sue (Bill) Schaefer both of Hanover, and Lynn (Rob) Martin of Mississauga. Treasured grandma of Michael (Susy), Courtney (Rod), Andrew (Kiersten), Ryan, Scott, and Catherine, and great grandma of Madison, Christian, Kiley, Elise, Cameron, Jade, Sophie, Tessa, and Leah. Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, and their families, as well as many close friends. Predeceased by husband Stanley, grandson Shaun Schaefer, sister Marie (Herb) Hill, and brother Edgar (Shirley) Fischer.
Visitation will be held at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Hanover, on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, from 10-11 am with a funeral service to follow at 11 am. Rev. Dan West officiating. The family politely requests that those attending the visitation and funeral service please wear a facemask to help ensure everyone’s safety. Interment in Hanover Cemetery after the service. The family welcomes you to join them for a time of fellowship and celebration of Lorraine’s life with a luncheon at the church reception hall.
Memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
So sorry about your mom. I so enjoyed working with her (and your gramma Bea).
One year when she was making her garden smaller she gave me some Iris bulbs. I still think of her when they bloom. Keep the good memories close. Lots of laughter when she was around. One time we were putting a patient into bed and she grabbed my leg instead, we laughed so hard! My condolences.
So sorry to hear about your Mom.
