GRUNDY

Kathleen Ann Grundy, 96, of Durham, Ontario, a daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, died peacefully on Saturday, December 4^th, 2021 at Rockwood Terrace.

Kathleen was born in Kitchener, Ontario on September 25th, 1925, to Herbert and Annie Zettell, the fifth of seven siblings.  On September 9th, 1944 she married Derek B Grundy while he was on leave from the navy during World War II.  He preceded her in death on June 24th, 2003.  Kathleen was also preceded in death by her parents, grandson Duncan Campbell, brothers John, Jerry and Walter Zettell and sisters Cecilia Whaley, Georgina Zinger and Rose Marie Lee. Surviving are her three children:  Cherri (John) Greenhill of South Carolina, Deidra (Louis) Sfreddo of Elkhart, Indiana and Derek (Laurie) Grundy of Hanover, Ontario. Fondly remembered by her grandchildren BJ (Brenda) Greenhill of Georgia, Ryan (Jennifer) Sfreddo of New York, Erin (Nate) Nickell of Indiana, Andrew (Elizabeth) Sfreddo of Illinois, Josh (Jennifer) Grundy of Ottawa, Bethany (Wes) Dietz of Hanover, Sarah (Matt) Runge of St. Joseph, and Davy (Amber) Grundy of Hanover, and sister-in-law Loretta Zettell of Goderich.

Kathleen was a wonderful mother and homemaker.  In her early years she loved working in her large garden and apple orchard. She enjoyed curling and playing Bridge and was an avid golfer. She loved to entertain and created wonderful desserts.  Kathleen was also very active in her church and her Bible Study Groups and was a member of the Kitchener Gospel Temple. At the end of her life when she joined the Rockwood Terrace family, she was still known for her hospitality, and other residents were often drawn to her room. Kathleen will be missed by all.

A private family graveside service has taken place, with interment in Hanover Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover.  Private condolence messages may be sent to the family at www.mightonfuneralhome.ca
