Kossits, Irmgard (nee Motz)

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Irmgard Kossits Monday, November 29^th 2021, at Chapman House in Owen Sound at the age of 83.

 Irmgard was born in Diedorf, Germany, daughter of Lorenz and Martha Motz. Beloved wife of the late Johann (Hans) Kossits. Beloved mother of John Kossits (Ulrike Neustein) and Eva Maria Brunger (Kossits) (Scott Brunger). Proud grandmother of Amanda and Sarah, Erik and Jenna. She will be sadly missed by her sisters Margaret Neise, Elisabeth Krekel, and Klara Hausmann, and many nephews and nieces in Canada, USA, and Germany. Irmgard left this world holding the hand of her dear partner, Frank Symonds.

Irmgard was honoured with the Town of Hanover’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 2020.  She was known through TOPS, Hanover Lawn Bowling Club, Hanover Horticultural Society, Red Hats, Holy Family Parish, St. Vincent de Paul Society, Catholic Women’s League, and the Light on Main Street. 

Sincere appreciation is extended to the village of people who cared for Irmgard – Frank, his family, doctors, nurses, extended healthcare, Holy Family Parish, and Chapman House.

Visitation will be held at Holy Family Church, Hanover on Thursday, December 9, 2021  from 10 am until time of a celebration of life Mass held at 11AM. For those unable to attend the mass, it will be live streamed through the church’s website at www.holyfamily.ca/media.  Due to COVID-19, social distancing and contact tracing will be enforced. Please be reminded that masks or face coverings are to be worn inside the church.

 In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to St. Vincent de Paul Society or to the Chapman House Residential Hospice. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover.
