Elmer Schmidt, of Hanover, passed away at The Village Senior's Community, Hanover, on Wednesday, June 13, 2018. He was 95.
Born on June 17, 1922, to the late Edward and Christina (nee Kreutzkamp) Schmidt. Elmer was born and raised in Hanover, residing there his entire life. He cofounded and was a partner in Smitty’s Fine Furniture with his father Ed and his brothers Lloyd and Gordon. Elmer served in England in WWII.
Loving father of Bud Schmidt and Debbie (Bob) Gray of Hanover. Dearly missed by grandchildren Andrew (Juliet Lammers) Gray of Montreal, and Matthew Gray (Michelle Viljoen) of Johansburg, South Africa. Fondly remembered by several nieces and nephews, sisters in-law Korleen Schmidt and Bernice Schmidt of Hanover, and special friend Betty Duncan of Hanover. Predeceased by his wife Mary (nee Swinghammer), and brothers Lloyd and Gordon Schmidt.
Visitation at Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover, on Friday, June 15, 2018, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 11a.m., at St. Matthew's Ev. Lutheran Church. Rev. John Polacok officiating. Inurnment in Hanover Cemetery, Hanover.
