Mary Ann Grubb (nee Montag), of Hanover, passed away peacefully with her family by her side at Hanover and District Hospital on Saturday, March 13, 2021. She was 85.
Born in Carrick Township on May 19, 1935 to the late Leo and Rita (nee Stroeder) Montag. Mary Ann was a homemaker although she did work a little out of the home, but home was where her heart was. She was a faithful member of Holy Family Church and enjoyed being a part of the CWL. Mary Ann was a fierce card player and enjoyed getting together with her “Crew” at McDonalds to catch up on everyone’s lives. We will certainly miss her annual pies at Christmas, as baking them brought her probably as much enjoyment as it was for us to eat them.
Survived by children Dorothy (Dan) O'Connell of Lake Rosalind, Pauline (Ralph) Diemert of Mildmay, Philip Grubb (Mary Daniel) of Cambridge, Norbert Grubb (Phyllis Neuman) of Rosemount, Jerome (Ann) Grubb of Waterloo, Mary Ann Haelzle of Kitchener, Murray (Sheila) Grubb of Dorchester, Richard (Carol) Grubb of Marl Lake and Charlene (Terry) Trushinski of Orangeville. Much loved grandma of 29 grandchildren and 43 great grandchildren. Fondly remembered by her siblings Rita (Roger) Boudreau, Alice (Ron) Paleczny both of Kitchener, Clara (Sam) Geddes of Kincardine, Bernadette (Larry) Schlorff of Walkerton, John Montag (Gwen) of Waterloo, Alphonse (Terry) Montag of Woodstock, Leo (Loretta) Montag of Elmwood, Clare (Roseanne) Montag of Walkerton, Jerome (Marlene) Montag of Carlsruhe and Clarence (Marlene) Montag of Walkerton. Mary Ann will be fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews and their families and especially her special friend George Tabone of Hanover, which she shared a special friendship and companionship together. Predeceased by her husband Philip Grubb, infant son Kenneth, son in law Francis "Chip" Haelzle, granddaughter Colleen Lantz and her brother Gerald Montag.
