Douglas "Doug" Gordon Klages, formerly of Hanover, passed away at Rockwood Terrace in Durham on Sunday, January 24, 2021. He was 87.
Born in Neustadt on April 27, 1933 to the late Norman and Bessie (nee Thompson) Klages. Canada Steamship Lines, Teeswater Creamery and Interforest were a few of Doug's stops throughout a very varied working life. His interests included swing bowling, horseshoes and playing cards. Doug was a member of First St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Hanover.
Survived by wife Laura (nee Lahn) Klages of Hanover. Loved father of Steven (Joan) Klages of Durham, Robyn Klages, John Klages both of Brampton, Donna Just (Dodd Purdy) of Red Deer Alberta and Christopher (Tammy) Klages of Hanover. Special papa to Marshall, Pearce, Charlotte, Anne and Andrew. Doug will be fondly remembered by his siblings Helen Matthews, Elaine (Orval) Kaufman, Shirley (Doug) Church, Ardelle (David) Quigley, Brian (Sharon) Klages, Carol (Albert) Wiebe, Marilyn (Jim) Bainard and Joan Kaufman (Bob). He will be remembered by his sisters in law Evelyn and Trudy Klages. Lovingly remembered by numerous nieces, nephews and their families. Predeceased by his parents, brothers Glenn, Murray, Carman and brothers in law Grant Matthews and Alvin Kaufman.
