Helen Ahrens

Helen Ahrens

It is with deep sadness but also with abiding peace, the family of Helen Amelia (nee Monk) Ahrens announces her passing on Thursday, November 19, 2020 in the comfort of her own home with loving family at her side.

Helen was born on July 24, 1929 in Brant Township, RR#2 Elmwood, to the late Bert and Nora (nee Ferguson) Monk. Helen married Gerald Ahrens on October 27, 1948 and was a great help to him throughout his various business careers over their nearly 42 years together. Raising her family was Helen's greatest joy and she was the best "stay-at-home-working Mom" ever! She was a founding member of the "U-Need-Us" Club in Hanover and served for many years, an avid square dancer, snowmobiler, knitter and baker extraordinaire. Her recipes and hand knit items were sought after by many! She leaves behind countless special memories as a great Nana.

Helen is survived by her loving and devoted children Jeannette Wilken, Elizabeth Timm (Ralph), Rose Ahrens, Scott Ahrens (Leila) and daughter in law Micheline Ahrens. She also leaves behind her treasured grandchildren: Jeannine Campbell (Pete), Monique Lippert (Mladin), Rob Lippert (Kate), Melissa Warner (Erich), Alison Braithwaite (Mark), Amanda Timm (Allan), Ashley Timm (Davor), Brandon Timm, Rebecca Timm (Cole) and Connor Ahrens; precious great grandchildren Nolan Campbell (Ailis), Emily Gerich (Phil), Vincent Dally, Everett Braithwaite, Ethan Warner, Megan Warner, Cooper Lippert; great great grandchildren Saige, Morgan and Bryson Gerich, and special friends Ann and Bob Grimes as well as many nieces, nephews and their families. Predeceased by her beloved husband Gerald Ahrens (1990), son Frank Ahrens (2017), son in law John Wilken (2014), siblings Courtney Monk (1980), Audree Riepert (2014) and Marjorie Carroll-Nelson (2020).

Special thanks to Dr. Abell, the VON nurses and PSWs who were so kind and caring to Mom for the past few years and especially the last four weeks; sometimes angels walk among us.

Proverbs 31:25: "She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come."

Soar with the Angels Mom and be reunited with all of your loved ones who have gone before.
