Frederick Grein, of Hanover, passed away peacefully at the Hanover Care Centre on Saturday, June 27, 2020. He was 93.
Born on April 24, 1927 in Ayton to the late George and Hilda (nee Fischer) Grein. Fred worked for construction firms in Hanover and Priceville before moving to Espanola where he and his brother started Grein Bros construction, building schools and lumber camps in the bush. Fred was a great family man. He took great joy in life spending time with his many nieces and nephews. Compassionate, wise, and with a great sense of humour, Fred was loved by all. Fred was a member of the Masonic Lodge as well as the Royal Canadian Legion.
Survived by brothers Ivan (Doreen) Grein of Hanover, Ross (Caroline) Grein of Espanola, Alvin Grein of Hanover, sisters Ione Warden of Oshawa and Irene Netzke of Burlington. Also survived by several nieces and nephews and their families. Predeceased by a sister Pauline (Keith) Armstrong and a sister Lorraine in infancy, sister-in-law Elizabeth Grein, brothers-in-law George Warden and Bob Netzke.
In keeping with the directives from the Province of Ontario, cremation has taken place and a private family Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2020 at Mighton Funeral Home. Inurnment in Hanover Cemetery.
