Susan Elenor Halliday (nee Gilbert), of Hanover, passed away with her husband by her side at home on Wednesday, June 17, 2020. She was 78.
Born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on April 27, 1942 to the late Dr. Ralph and Elenor (nee Hauge) Gilbert. Susan met and married the love of her life on December 2, 1967. After a while in the States, they came to move to Hanover in 1968. They owned and operated Quick Print, beside Shultz's bakery, in Hanover for a number of years. Together they retired to Miller Lake to enjoy being surrounded by nature and many friends. Susan will be remembered for all her time volunteering with the Brownies and Girl Guides, as well as the Lion’s Head Lioness Club. She was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary at Branch #130 Hanover and Lion's Head #202, as well as a faithful member of St. Matthew's Ev. Lutheran Church, in Hanover.
Survived by husband James "Jim" Halliday of Hanover. Loved mother of Mike Halliday (Tracey Clark) of Wellesley, Karen Anderson (Paul Kechnie) of Austin, Texas, Cindy Eropkin of Huntington Beach, California and Wendy Saviola of Phoenix, Arizona. Grandma of Courtney Sue Anderson, Taylor Anderson, Christine Lalonde, Kyle Eropkin, Jason Abbott, Mitchell Halliday, Samantha Fletcher and Kimberley Fletcher as well as great grandchildren London, Lavin and Lain Lalonde and Myles and Presley Abbott. Fondly remembered by her sisters Joanne (Dr. Dennis) Tibble of Bay City, Michigan and Kathy Gilbert of Ada, Michigan.
To honour her wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family Inurnment Service will be held at the Hanover Cemetery - Columbarium. A time to gather and celebrate her life will be held at a later date, once the COVID restrictions have changed and allow for safe gathering. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover.
