Wilfred Bender, formerly of Hanover, passed away peacefully at Royal Terrace Nursing Home in Palmerston on Sunday, May 24, 2020. He was 90.

Born in Listowel, to the late Robert and Pearl (nee Walter) Bender on June 14, 1929. Wilfred was employed with Knechtel's Furniture in Hanover until their closing.

Survived by children Bruce (Debbie) Bender of Kitchener, Barbara (Phil) Waddington of Hanover and John Bender of London. Dear grandfather of Jessica, Brenda, Becky, Cassidy, Paige, Darren and Benny. He was a great grandfather to Konnor, Skyler, Faith, Owen and Jackson. Fondly remembered by his brothers Walter Bender of Mississauga, Ken (Everdina) Bender of Wallace Township, sister Audrey Bender of Waterloo and several nieces, nephews and their families. Predeceased by his wife Verna (nee Knapp), daughter Brenda Lee and by his brother Ross Bender.

A Graveside Funeral Service was held at the Hanover Cemetery with Rev. Micol Cottrell officiating.

Memorial donations to the Diabetes Association were appreciated as expressions of sympathy. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover.
