Clarence "Sam" Eva, WWII Veteran, of Hanover, passed away at Hanover and District Hospital on Saturday, November 2, 2019. He was 93.

Clarence, better known as "Sam", was born on February 7, 1926 in Bentinck Township and attended Hanover Schools. He joined the Canadian Army in Toronto on July 20, 1944. After training in Camp Shilo, he was sent to England but while at Sea, the war had ended. He was then assigned to No 1 kit stores sorting out the personal belongings of those yet not discharged. After his discharge, he went to work at Knechtel's Furniture Factory until it closed. Sam served two terms as a Councillor for the Town of Hanover as well as 27 years as a volunteer on the Fire Department. He has also been a dedicated member of the Hanover Legion Branch 130 for over 68 years.

Survived by daughter Betty Anne (Richard) Durrer of New Hamburg, sons Robert (Geri) Eva of Kettle Point, Douglas (Mary-Catherine) Eva of Hanover, Ken (Karen) Eva of Coburg. Special grandfather of Todd (Inez), Chris, Jeff (Jennifer), Carly (Ross), Lindsay (Colin), Bethany (Dean), Christy (Dan), Danielle, Carrie (Jesse), Mike (Jenn) and Dave. Great grandfather of 17.

Fondly remembered by his sister Vi Wilken-Aylwin of Hanover, Shirley Zimmer of Guelph and sister in law Elsie Eva of Waterloo. Predeceased by his beloved wife Annie "Anne" (nee Ferguson) Eva, granddaughter Stacey and his brother Wilfred. 　

Visitation will be held at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Hanover on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 from 10:30am until time of a Funeral Service at 12 Noon. Rev. Bonnie Sutherland officiating. Interment in Hanover Cemetery.
