Gertrud "Trudy" Remers, of Hanover, passed away suddenly at LHSC University Site in London on Monday, May 6, 2019. She was 70.
Born on January 19, 1949 in Hailer Germany to the late Carl Otto and Helga (nee Kittel) Diercks. Better known around Hanover as Trudy, she was employed as a Pay Master with Sklar-Peppler Furniture as well as worked in various banking facilities including Credit Union in Elmwood. Trudy graduated from Wilfred Laurier University with a degree in Business Administration and enjoyed working for Horizon Chicks for many years. She was very actively involved with the community serving on the Hanover & District Hospital Board as well as many others. You could always find Trudy attached to her husband Heinz as they worked along side each other at Heinz Auto Body for 52 years. Lighting up the room as she entered, she had a calm and easy going nature about her. She loved attending church with Heinz and was always willing to lend a helping hand for not only church functions but many other endeavours she took on. She will be fondly remembered by all her church family as they too were wonderful additions to the "Remers Clan".
Survived by loving partner, soul mate and side kick Heinz Remers of Hanover. Loved mother of Heidi (Mitchell) Van Der Wal and Trevor Remers (Tammy McCracken) both of Hanover. Trudy was always seen with a smile on her face, especially when she was with her grandchildren. She could be usually found with Heinz to watch the grandkids extracurricular activities as family was important. This was evident in all the activities they attended with their grandkids as she held a special bond with each of them that only they could understand. Aside from being just an Oma, she treasured each relationship with sincerity and heart. Such a special Oma to Ronin, Teo, Saskia Remers and their mother Jackie Shields and Laura and Christopher Van Der Wal. Dear sister of Fred (Pam) Diercks of Burlington, Toni Burke of Midland, Inga Dewar of London and Caroline Pritchard of Australia. Loved by her nieces, nephews and their families. Predeceased by her parents and brothers Walter and Carl Otto.
Visitation will be held at Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover, on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2019 at 1:00 pm, at St. Matthew's Ev. Lutheran Church, Hanover. Rev. John Polacok officiating. Interment in Hanover Cemetery.
Memorial donations to the Hanover & District Hospital Foundation or to St. Matthew's Ev. Lutheran Church would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
