William Stanley "Stan" Purves, of Hanover, passed away at Hanover and District Hospital, Hanover on Saturday, April 13, 2019. He was 91.
Born in Bentinck Township on July 4, 1927 to the late John and Hazel (nee Willis) Purves. Better known as Stan by family and friends, he was employed for many years as a Stationary Engineer for both Knechtel's and Peppler Furniture factories. He also kept busy as a 3rd Degree Knight of Columbus. Stan loved nothing more than his family, but his other passion was for music. He and his wife Joan often sang and played music, and even recorded a CD together.
Survived by sons Randy Purves of Walkerton, Keith (Christine) Purves of Strathroy, Mark Purves of Mississauga and daughter Donna Bryant of Stratford. Loved grandfather of 9 grandchildren and several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews and their families. Predeceased by his beloved wife Joan (nee Gross) and brother Frank Purves and sister Mary (Orval) Crispen.
Visitation at Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover, on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 from 2-4 and 7-8 pm with Vigil and Knights of Columbus Prayers at 8 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at 10:30 am, at Holy Family Church. Father Gary Schlack officiating. Interment in Holy Family Cemetery, Hanover.
