It is with heavy hearts that the family of Robert "Bob" Seim, of Hanover, announce his passing on Monday, April 8, 2019 at the Hanover & District Hospital after a courageous battle with Cancer. He was 84.
Bob lived his life to the fullest. Family, friends, work and travel were his passions. After graduating from Waterloo Lutheran University, he worked at his father's Auto Dealership. He started a long career of more than 30 years with London Life and continued after retirement to visit his son's office daily. Bob loved his coffee clubs and the ROMEOS. His watch was set by visits to Cravings at 8:00 am, McDonalds at 10:30 am and 2:30 pm he was at Norms. For many years, winters were spent in Florida, and a love for travel was a lifelong passion. A trip to Brazil, Portugal, and a European Tour were the highlights of his travels. Even a Sunday drive could become an escapade as his sons will attest to.
Bob volunteered his time with many organizations, including the Kinsman Club, Masons, Curling Clubs, Hanover & District Hospital Board, Church Council, and Town Council as a Deputy Reeve. He also served in politics for the County of Grey. Bob loved his life on Lake Rosalind and was out on his pontoon boat most weekends. The "East End Gang" was a large part of his and his deceased wife Mary's life, remaining good friends for many decades and getting together to celebrate milestones in their lives. In his final years he was lucky enough to meet a new love, his fiancée Marjorie. They were devoted to each other until the end.
Loved deeply by fiancée Marjorie Lanktree of Hanover. Devoted father of Brian (Theresa) Seim of Hanover, Alan Seim of Elmwood, JoAnn Lanktree (Tim Larson) and Lana (Shawn) McGuire both of Orangeville. Missing their favorite Grandpa are Elyse Seim (David Slack), Ethan Seim(Vanessa Haack), Sarah (Kevin) Webb, Justin Golem (Adrienne Macdonald), Taylor, Ava, Janelle, Lily, Merritt, Wyatt and three great grandchildren Owen, Logan, and Amelia. They will recount thousands of memories on the lake and miss him deeply. Bob will be missed by his sister in law Louise Seim of Peterborough. Predeceased by his beloved wife Mary (nee Bowes) Seim and brothers Harold Seim, Dr. Elmer (Jacqui) Seim and Elwood Seim.
Family and friends are invited to a Visitation held at Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover, on Friday, April 12, 2019 from 1-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at 11 am, at St. Matthew's Ev. Lutheran Church, Hanover (356-9th Street). Rev. John Polacok officiating.
