Greta Jolck Jacobsen, of RR1 Hanover, passed away at St. Mary's General Hospital, Kitchener on Friday, December 14, 2018. She was 85.
Born in Toronto, Ontario, on October 24, 1933, to the late Marius and Thorah (nee Jolck) Jacobsen. Greta was passionate about volunteering her time, part of the Red Hat Society, Friends of the Library, Ontario Nature, and the Council of Canadians.
Survived by children Laura (Rocky) Madsen of Pefferlaw, Ontario, Stephen Belfry (Bonnie Brownstein) of Quadra Island, British Columbia, Douglas Belfry of Strathmore, Alberta, Kenneth (Elena) Belfry of Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, and Emily Belfry-MacKinnon (Peter Vershuuren) of Whitby, Ontario. Dearly missed by grandchildren Alayna Belfry, Jacob MacKinnon, and Alexander MacKinnon, as well as her partner John Shaw, of Hanover. Survived by brother Leif (Ann) Jacobsen of Elora. Predeceased by her parents, and sisters Liss, Erna, and Elsie.
To honour Greta’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at Crawford United Church (502239 Conc 10, Elmwood, ON), on Saturday, December 22, 2018, at 11am.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the St. Mary's General Hospital - Cardiac Care Unit or the Crawford United Church would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
