Leonard "Len" Wettlaufer, WWII Veteran, of Walkerton, passed away peacefully at Maplecourt Villa in Walkerton on Friday, September 28, 2018. He was 97.
Born on April 30, 1921 in Normanby Township to the late Ezra and Leona (nee Kraft) Wettlaufer. Len was a trucker for New Life Mills for many years.
Survived by sons Joe (Mary Lou) Wettlaufer of Hanover, Barry Wettlaufer of Exeter, daughter Joan (Calvin) Burrell of Walkerton and daughter in law Valerie Wettlaufer of Hanover. Loved grandfather of Lisa Ward, Carrie (Ron) Cunningham, Ryan (Kendra) Wettlaufer, Ashley (Josh) Butler, Tracey (Kris) Bertrand, Justin (Jennifer) Wettlaufer, Timothy (Ofelia) Wettlaufer and great grandchildren Micki, Krista, Mason, Kyle, Cole, Brianna, Caleb, Lucas, Sydney, Gabrielle, Dylan, Sebastian, Bradley, Mya and Brian. Loved brother of Eldon (Carol) Wettlaufer of St. Thomas, Julie Deeves of Durham, Mildred Albrecht of RR#2 Mildmay, Shirley Meagher, Marie Noble and Marlene Clough all of Hanover. Predeceased by his beloved wife Mildred (nee Cronin), sons Michael and Patrick, brothers Willard, Ivan, Elmer, Lloyd and sisters Dorothy Hahn, Margaret Wettlaufer and Elmeda Hartman.
Visitation will be held at Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover, on Monday, October 1, 2018 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at 11 am, at Holy Family Church, Hanover. Father Gary Schlack officiating. Interment in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Carlsruhe.
