Born on November 10, 1936 in Lunnenburg, Nova Scotia. Doris was an RNA with the Hanover & District Hospital for many years and also enjoyed working for Zellers and Grants Independent Grocers in the Pharmacy Department. She had a love for Florida and the sunshine and she enjoyed many summers there with Bill and the family. Time and time again she longed to go back until her health took a turn for the worse. She was an avid Blue Jay Fan, with Donaldson being her favorite. She definitly qualified as their Number #1 Fan!
Survived by loving husband William "Bill" Grant of Hanover. Dear mother of James (Lynn) Grant of Bridgenorth, Ontario, Diane (Andrew) Clarke of Niagara Falls and Sherrie (Jeff) Nixon of Elmwood. Proud grandmother of Zachary Grant, Lindsay Clark- Overden (Derek), Nicholas Clarke (Allie), Jorden Nixon (Jesse) and Jenna Nixon (Jacob). Her heart was full with her grandchildren and she was overjoyed with her two great grandchildren Austin and Lucas, who will miss her dearly. Predeceased by her mother Beaulah Thompson and her brother Walter Ernst.
To honour her wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or formal services, but a private celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover.
A heartfelt thank you to the great staff at the Village, who treated mom like one of their own and took such great care of her.
