Walter Henry Gross of Hanover passed away at Hanover Care Centre, Hanover just one week short of his 102nd birthday on Thursday, January 11, 2018.
Born in Hanover on January 18, 1916 to the late Henry and Annie (nee Holler) Gross. Walter was employed for many years with Peppler Furniture and Smitty's Fine Furniture as a repairman. He loved working with his hands and was known for fixing anything. Walter was a very active person his entire life, still cross country skiing at age 100. He enjoyed many summers spent camping as well as enjoying the cottage at Marl Lakes.
Survived by sons Robert Gross of RR3 Mildmay, Ted (Dianne) Gross of London, Brian (Sharon) Gross of Delaware and daughter-in-law Darlene Gross (friend Duane Snyder) of Hanover. Loved grandfather of Christopher (Kalie) Gross, Jenna (Josh) Elvidge, Mark (Candace) Gross, Brian Jr. Gross and Chelsea Gross as well as two great grandchildren Lily and Aria. Fondly remembered by his brother Raymond (Ivy) Gross of RR3 Hanover. Predeceased by his beloved wife Margaret (nee Acton) Gross, son Gordon Gross and sister Esther Heipel.
Visitation will be held at Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover, on Saturday, January 13, 2018 from 10 am until time of Funeral Service at 11:00 am. Rev. Jim Kinsman officiating. Interment in Hanover Cemetery, Hanover.
