Arnold Pfeffer

Arnold John Pfeffer, formerly of Normanby Township, passed away peacefully at The Village Senior's Community, Hanover on Saturday, October 28, 2017. He was 89.

Born on September 27, 1928 at the Pfeffer homestead on the 10th concession of Normanby Township. Arnold attended Ayton Public School. Following his marriage to Eileen (nee Becker) on June 8, 1948, they lived on the 9th Concession of Normanby (first farm east of Ayton) where together they farmed for over 60 years. He loved the land and enjoyed hunting with the Ayton Deer Gang every fall. In 2008, he moved into his son Wayne's home for several years. In the fall of 2013 both Arnold and Eileen moved to the Village Senior's Community Home in Hanover, where he continued to play solo and enjoy visits from family and friends. He was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Ayton and formerly the Zion Lutheran Church. He loved playing the card game solo and enjoyed weekly and bi-weekly card games at Centennial Hall, Blondie's Tavern as well as at home with friends.

Survived by devoted wife of almost 70 years, Eileen (nee Becker) Pfeffer of Hanover. Loved father of Wayne Pfeffer, Keith (Susan) Pfeffer both of Ayton, daughter in laws Diane Pfeffer of Hanover and Mary Lou Pfeffer of Ayton.  Proud grandfather of Trevor (Christine) Pfeffer, Jason (Kristal) Pfeffer, Scott (Sherry) Pfeffer, Julie Pfeffer (Kevin McConnell), Tricia Pfeffer and Steven Pfeffer, Denise (Scott) Bender, Jenna Pfeffer (Chris Hamel), Jeff (Alex) Pfeffer, Brent Pfeffer (Ashley Hennig), Kaitlyn (Sandy) Hamilton and Kyle Pfeffer (Chantal Leisemer). Cherished great grandfather of Cameron, Gavin and Cassidy Pfeffer, Sloan, Mason and Maximus Pfeffer, Taylor Pfeffer, James Pfeffer, Bryson Pfeffer, Silas, Kaleb and Everett Hamilton, Zachary and Brooke Bender, Luke and Lacey Hamel, step great grandfather of Nadia Doyle, McKenzie Schantz and Hayley Hennig. Loved brother of Paul (Ruth) Pfeffer of Ayton and sisters in law Shirley Becker and Mary Becker both of Ayton. Predeceased by his sons Brian (1972) Glen (2001), great grandson Owen (2005), parents Wilbert (1983) and Doretta (1975), brother Elmer (Elda) Pfeffer (2005), sister Ruth (Gordon) (2016) and numerous brother and sister in laws on the Becker side.

Visitation will be held at Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover, on Monday, October 30, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at 11:00 am, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Ayton. Pastor Heather Spencer-Stoltz officiating. Interment in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Ayton
