On Saturday, October 10, 2020 Melanie Ann Craig (nee Murray), passed away peacefully at the Hanover & District Hospital while surrounded by family after a sudden and unexpected stroke. She was 72.

Melanie was born on September 3, 1948 in Gravenhurst, Ontario to the late Dr. John and Ethel (nee Laycox) Murray. Throughout her career as a teacher she touched the lives of many students and she made a lasting impression on a countless number of other people throughout her life. She always saw the good in others and she treated everyone with great respect. Above all, she had an extraordinary sense of compassion, love and generosity that had no boundaries. 

One of her greatest joys in life was being a Nana to Jack, Hannah and Matthew. She adored them! In addition to being an amazing Nana she will also be remembered by many for her endless devotion to her husband, children, friends and community. For her family, countless memories, too many to mention, will forever be etched in our hearts.

Survived by her devoted sons Ryan (Chrissy) Craig of Walkerton and Michael (Rachel) Craig of Toronto and her precious grandchildren Jack Daniel Craig, Hannah Marie Elloise Craig and Matthew Ryan Daniel Craig.Loving sister of Suzanne (Dennis) Paradis of Newmarket.  Predeceased by her beloved true love Daniel "Danny" Craig (2014).

Visitation will be held at Mighton Funeral Home in Hanover on Friday October 16th from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 7:00pm to 9:00pm.

As per the provincial regulations and COVID-19 restrictions, all visitors are requested to wear a mask when inside. The maximum number allowed at any one time is 40 people including immediate family. All social distancing measures will be taken.   

A private family funeral will be held on Saturday October 17th, 2020 (10:30am) at the Mighton Funeral Home with the service being live streamed through the funeral home Facebook page for those wishing to be apart of Melanie's Celebration. https://www.facebook.com/Mighton-Funeral-Home-Ltd-109625187108921

Interment will be beside her beloved Danny in Calvary Cemetery, Walkerton.

We are thankful for the love and support of family, friends, this amazing community and the staff at the Hanover Hospital who went above and beyond to make our last 24 hours together peaceful and beautiful.
