Arthur "Art" Holley

Arthur "Art" Carl Holley, of Hanover, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Hanover and District Hospital, Hanover on Sunday, September 27, 2020, in his 79th year.

Survived by devoted wife Annabelle of Hanover, and children; Lynn (Gordon) Jamieson of Harriston, Arden (Marilyn) Holley of R#1 Hanover and Christina (Lorne) Shantz of Peterborough.  Special Poppa of Philip Olivia, and Ian Jamieson, Adam Holley and Keegan, Rachael and Erin Shantz.  Remembered by his sisters and brothers, Donelda (Orvil) Knapp of Kitchener, Helen (Leslie) Miller of R#1 Elmwood, Stanley (Sharon) Holley of Cambridge, Kathy Holley (Doug Zettler) of Hanover and David Holley (Sandy Kaufman) of Chesley. Uncle to many nieces, nephews and their families.

He was born in Sault Ste Marie on May 28, 1942, to the late William Carl and Florence Elizabeth (nee Harrison) Holley.

Art married the love of his life, Annabelle (nee Miller), in 1963, recently celebrating their 57th year of marriage.  Together, they enjoyed everything country living had to offer, raising their family on their farm in Bentinck and later moved to Hanover in 2018. 

Art worked in many positions over 45 years for Buckeye/Dickies in Hanover. He had many interests, including their beloved home and farm, camping and traveling across Canada with his family, tinkering and going to shows with his 1955 mint-green Mercury Montclair.  In their retirement, he and Annabelle took up researching their family trees and joined the Hanover Horticultural Club. He was a long-time member of the Grace United Church and enjoyed volunteering after he retired.

A Private Family Visitation will be held at Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover, on Thursday, October 1, 2020, with a  family Memorial Service to follow.  Rev. Micol Cottrell officiating.  Inurnment in Hanover Cemetery. The service will be live streamed through the funeral home Facebook site, for those wishing to be apart of Art's Celebration.  https://www.facebook.com/Mighton-Funeral-Home-Ltd-109625187108921. The livestream will commence at 11 am.

Memorial donations to the Grace United Church or to the Hanover & District Hospital Foundation are appreciated as expressions of sympathy.

As per the provincial regulations and COVID-19 restrictions, all visitors are requested to wear a mask when inside the funeral home for any visitations or services. The maximum number allowed in the funeral home at any one time is 40 people including immediate family. All social distancing measures will be taken for all services.
