Eunice Derbecker

Eunice Derbecker, formerly of Neustadt, passed away on September 16, 2020. She was in her 90th year. 
Born on May 17, 1931 to the late Alfred and Mamie (nee Schneider) Derbecker.

Survived by her brother-in-law Art Domm, her sisters-in-law Ruby Derbecker and Leslie Derbecker. Fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews Randy (Dawn) Domm of Toronto, Maribeth Domm of Toronto, Pam Domm of Ayton, and John (Julia) Domm of Kitchener, David (Susan) Derbecker of Houston, Texas, Sharon (Marvin) Clark of Hanover, Suzanne Derbecker of Calgary, Alberta, Janice (Cliff) Rosang of Abbotsford, B.C. and Carol (Jos) van Leeuwen of Normanby Township, Elizabeth Derbecker of Toronto, Michael (Abbey) Derbecker of Hamilton. Proud great Aunt of 12 nieces and nephews, and a great great Aunt of 9 nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her siblings, Moody Derbecker, Marion Domm, George Derbecker and John Derbecker, Paul and Marie in infancy.

Eunice attended the Hanover High School and then earned her teaching certificate from the Stratford Normal School. She taught in a one room school house at School Section 13 Normanby. Later Eunice worked for her brother George at Derbecker's General Store in Neustadt, enjoying the opportunity to serve many of the local customers. She also took care of her family in many ways. Eunice always made time to spend with her nieces and nephews, taking them on outings, planning picnics, opening her home to welcome them whenever they dropped in. She spent many years working with children at the Neustadt Baptist Sunday School. As a Sunday school teacher, through music and teaching, Eunice introduced many children to a loving heavenly Father. She shared her musical talents in church, as a vocalist, pianist and teacher. All those who know her were blessed by her kindness, understanding and generosity.

A family graveside service will be held at Neustadt Baptist Cemetery on Friday, September 18, 2020 at 2 pm. Due to provincial regulations and COVID restrictions, social distancing measures will be taken and names and contact information upon arrival at the cemetery for contact tracing requirements will be given. Interment in Neustadt Baptist Cemetery.
