Leroy Pries

Leroy Pries, of Hanover, passed away at Hanover and District Hospital on Monday, July 8, 2019. He was 63.

Born on May 26, 1956 in Walkerton to the late Arthur and Oleda (nee Willfang) Pries. Leroy overcame many obstacles that life brought to him. Born with Spina Bifida and hydrocephalus, he started life with many challenges. However, he triumphed and was even the first baby to have a successfull shunt placed at Sick Childrens Hospital in Toronto. Leroy went through many other medical procedures during his childhood, but none of this prevented him from completing High School at J.D.S.S. and going on to obtain his Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry from the University of Waterloo. After this he was employed for many years with Guelph Chemical. Leroy was always involved in the Lutheran Church and he was a respected member of the Hanover Lions. He always had a friendly smile.

Survived by sisters Leona (Warren) Weppler of Ayton and Karen (Ken) Toman of RR#3 Hanover. Missing him are his favorite nieces and nephews that will always hold a special place in their hearts; Clark (Agnes) Weppler of Harriston, Connie (Kevin) Krauter of Elmwood, Carman (Beth-Ann) Weppler of Clifford, Crystal Clark (Trevor) of Burlington. Also remembered by his step nephews Nicolas (Jackie) Toman of London, Jeremy (Jill) Toman of Walkerton and Ryan Toman (Monica) of Kitchener. Leroy will be missed by several great nieces, nephews, cousins and his extended family. Predeceased by his parents and his sister Sheila Pries.

Visitation will be held at Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover, on Thursday, July 11, 2019 from 6-8 pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, July 12, 2019 at 11:00 am, at St. Matthew's Ev. Lutheran Church, Hanover. Rev. John Polacok officiating. Interment in St. James Lutheran Cemetery, Lauderbach, Ontario.

Memorial donations to the Sick Children's Hospital, Toronto or to Saugeen Mobility (SMART) would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
