Lora May Vennard-Chappell

Lora May Vennard-Chappell, of Durham, passed away at Rockwood Terrace, Durham on Saturday, June 22, 2019, in her 88th year. 

Born on September 17, 1931, in Port Elgin, Ontario, to the late Alex Vennard and Ruth Chappell.  Lora had fond memories of her childhood, growing up on a small family farm in Burgoyne.  She always cherished any time spent with her family and friends, and also enjoyed many hobbies such as knitting and embroidery, bowling and lawn bowling, swimming, and going on walks.  She enjoyed success in bowling, where she was able to qualify for and attend a national level competition in Saskatchewan.  Lora very much enjoyed the 20 years she lived with the Martin Family before moving to Rockwood Terrace, and was able to share many wonderful memories on family trips throughout North America. 

Survived by sisters Joan (Wilson) Brown of Port Elgin, and Ruth (Dorne) McKay of Kincardine, Joyce (deceased) and brother in-law William Steinhoff of Hanover.  Dearly missed by nieces and nephews Heather, Brian, Rick, Carolyn, Katherine, Sandra, Brenda, Debbie, David, Krista, Steven, Larry, Roger, and Angela, and their families.  Lovingly remembered by Edith and Ernie Martin of Durham, and their children Jonathan, Joanna, and Annette.

Visitation at Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover, on Monday, June 24, 2019, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, June 25, 2019, at 10:30 am at Hanover Mennonite Fellowship Church (172 – 5th Street). Pastor Juanita Laverty officiating.  Interment in Sanctuary Park Cemetery, Port Elgin, Ontario (837 Eastwood Drive).
