Mervyn Gordon Leifso

Mervyn Gordon Leifso

Mervyn Gordon Leifso, of Hanover, passed away after a valient and couragous battle from a Stroke, with his loving family by his side at Hanover and District Hospital on Sunday, February 11, 2018.

Mervyn was born in Brant Township, on December 23, 1935 to the late Harry and Laura (nee Monk) Leifso. He grew up in Brant and attended school in Malcolm. He met his soul mate, Bev (nee Meyers) of Sullivan Township, and they were wed on July 14, 1962 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Chesley. They purchased the home farm in Brant and later additional land. The farm operation included beef, pigs, and dairy. Mervyn was very passionate about his farming skills. Bev taught school so life was busy! Sons Dale, Robin and Todd soon arrived and were often available to help their dad. Mervyn did custom combining for many area farmers and worked along side brother in law Walter Hamel for corn silo filling. He loved living on the farm and we are thankful that he was involved almost all his life. He was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church serving on the Church Council as well as other committees. In 2016 they moved from Habermehl Lake outside of Elmwood to "Living on 14th Street" in Hanover where they made more new friends. He loved life even though he had some health concerns, Mervyn never complained and lost his battle from a Stroke. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends and all those who knew him. He will remain forever in our hearts.

Survived by loving, devoted soul mate of Bev (nee Meyers) of Hanover. Together for 55 years, they raised their children; Dale (Jocelyne) Leifso, Robin (Laurie) Leifso and Todd Leifso (Connie White). On top of being a great Dad, he was estatic to earn the title Grandpa, which he enjoyed. He had many grandkids he loved to spoil. Missing his warm hugs and smiles are grandchildren Brooke Leifso, Valere Leifso, Brandi Leifso, Devyn Leifso (Ashley Herlick), Shantelle Leifso, Dylan Leifso, Emily Leifso, Jessica Ayaz (Rameez), Vanessa (Jarod) Weaver, Sean (Lisa) Six, Mathew (Kayla) Tuttle, Thomas Tuttle, Sydnee Struthers and great grandchildren Ember, Aleena, Jax, Aisha, Austin Six and Nash Weaver. Fondly remembered by his sister Ruth Hamel and sister in law Helen Wright.
