Teofil Polkiewicz

Teofil Polkiewicz, WWII Veteran, of Hanover, passed away at Hanover and District Hospital on Thursday, January 3, 2019, in his 100th year.

Born in Warsaw, Poland, on May 20, 1919, to the late Stanislaw and Natalia (nee Wilbik) Polkiewicz.  Teofil enjoyed his career as a farmer, but also worked off the farm for short periods of time at Knechtel Furniture and Buckeye.  He also enjoyed his hobbies of photography and travelling, highlighted by a trip to Alaska. 

Survived by sons Chris (Joanne) Polkiewicz of Sebringville, Edward Polkiewicz of New Lowell, Rick (Marlene) Polkiewicz of Waterloo, daughter Mary (Steven) Medley of Oshawa, and son in-law Len Babiak of Aurora. Loved Dziadek of Julie, Michael, Jennifer, Stephen, Elizabeth, Mark, Adam, Colin, Christine, Matthew, and Ryan, and great grandfather of Jacob, Kate, Megan, Benjamin, James, Olivia, and Zoey.  Dearly missed by long time friend Bessie Fitzsimmons of Hanover.  Predeceased by his beloved wife Anna (nee Suchanski), daughter Barbara Babiak, brother Bogdan, and a sister in infancy. 

Members of the Royal Canadian Legion are asked to attend a Legion Service at  Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover, on Sunday, January 6, 2019 at 12:45 pm. Visitation will commence from 1-3:30 pm where Vigil Prayers will be held at 3:30 pm.  A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, January 7, 2019, at 10 am, at Holy Family Church, Hanover. Father Gary Schlack officiating Interment in Holy Family Cemetery, Hanover.

Memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Hanover and District Hospital Foundation would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
